One of the three locations of Tenute Mannino di Plachi is Le Sciarelle, on the southern side of Etna in Viagrande immersed in a unique "terroir". Le Sciarelle is the first place where the family began its wine experience in 1730. Le Sciarelle takes its name from "sciare", lava terraces obtained from what was called "Aetna", the largest volcano in Europe which offers complex and structured wines that have great success in the international wine scene. Inside the farmhouse there is a splendid villa with also a rural part such as the "Palmento", a structure used in the past for the transformation of grapes into wine and the old cellar where today we offer tourist services inside. Le Sciarelle with its solar exposure is perfect for the cultivation of white grapes such as Carricante and Catarratto, however the red grapes are in the vineyard we have in the northern part of the volcano. The wine experience at Le Sciarelle begins with a beautiful walk in our vineyard and then we begin to tell you about our history, our family, our land and our wines.
