Savoca and Forza D'Agrò
Savoca and Forza d'Agrò are hilltop villages of the province of Messina, which is definitely worth visiting for their fascinating historical and cultural attractions, as famous locations chosen by American director Francis Ford Coppola, in 1971, to shoot the scenes of "The Godfather", considered a milestone in the history of international cinema.
Savoca
In Savoca you will visit: the bar Vitelli famous for the collection of photos taken in Coppola during the filming of the film, the church of Santa Lucia and the crypt of the Capuchins that still preserves the mummified bodies of local nobles, lived between 18. and 19. century.
Forza D'Agrò
Moving to Forza D'Agrò, a beautiful medieval village, surmounted by the Arab Norman castle overlooking the magnificent Ionian coast. From the square, a road line leads to the Cathedral Church, also famous for the film by F.F.Coppola, from which to continue for an intoxicating lunch in a local restaurant, a well-deserved break before changing course.
