Villa Romana del Casale and Caltagirone

Piazza Armerina is a pleasant inland town, surrounded by pine and eucalyptus forests, on the Erei mountains. Enjoy a guided tour (approximately 2 hours) of the famous Roman Villa del Casale (south-west of Piazza Armerina): the magnificent mosaics of the Villa make this city one of the most important archaeological sites in Sicily. The next visit will be Caltagirone, a fascinating city and a UNESCO world heritage site for its baroque art. Caltagirone is also known as the Sicilian capital of beautiful ceramics. The walking tour will include various monuments such as the Scala di Santa Maria del Monte, famous for its 142 steps with breathtaking ceramic floors, the Cathedral of San Giuliano, the Church of San Giuseppe.
